Chef Ncedisa Peter is cooking her way to sucess!
Today, we will be featuring a foodie. Her name is Ncedisa Peter. Chef Ncedisa is only 24 years old. But she has achieved so much already! ( You'll find out more as you read). She is a professional chef who graduated in Hospitality & Catering Services in 2017 at Bollon Collage.
After graduating, Chef Ncedisa got her first job ( which allowed her to do her practicals). She worked as a junior chef at a restaurant. After sometime she had to quit. Luckily, during her time of need, a job opportunity availed its self to her. Ncedisa got the opportunity to work as a chef assistant facilitator! The job allowed her to facilitate on a skills development program, she got 30 students & she shared her experiences & knowledge in order to make it easier for the students when they get into the industry. After some time, that contact ended.
At this point, she was back to square one : being unemployed! Chef Ncedisa knew she had to find her feet once again. She was struggling to find a job & so she decided to do something that would create a job for not only her self, but for people within the food industry who are also struggling. This where the idea of starting a takeaway/catering was born. Because she didn't have a formal kitchen or a place to sell her food from, she decided to start the business at her home. The fact that she already had experience from when she was still a chef assistant really helped.
The only stumbling block she had in a way was not having any capital! Chef Ncedisa, being her usual smart self, came up with a solution. She decided to ask her customers to pay her upfront & she'd cater for them later. Talk about brains & beauty!
The takeaway business turned out to be a very lucrative business & hence it became successful. Chef Ncedisa took full advantage of her sister's twitter account ( royalty on wheels) & that's where she advertised & marketed her business.
Another big job opportunity ( or so it seemed) availed itself to Chef Ncedisa. This time around, she got the opportunity to become a business partner & a manager of the food business. She used the ideas she already had from her own business to grow this new food joint. Because of this new opportunity, she started neglecting her own business & she dedicated all her time & energy to this new venture. Unfortunately the food business did not last long.
And the COVID & LOCKDOWN HAPPENED! During this time a lot of people were losing there jobs. Fortunately Chef Ncedisa got a job opportunity in September (2020). The only negative thing about this job was that its out of cape town. When that contact/job ended, she came back to cape town in 2021 Jan.
When she came back, she was still very eager to succeed the takeaway business. Chef Ncedisa met Sisipho Daki. It turned out that Sisipho was also a foodie! Sisipho is a self taught cook & a food blogger.
The two foodies got together & they begun talking food business. It really didn't take long for the chefs to get the ball rolling! Chef Ncedisa & Sisipho did their first poster on social media. In Ncedisa's exact words :"Boom! It started! It blew up so much".
Ncedisa & Sisipho have been working well together. Their Success is so great that they have actually registered the food joint as a company! The two ladies along side Kamo Hlahatsi, have named it VSK food joint.
VSK food joint caters for weddings, funerals & birthdays. They are still operating from Ncedisa's home but their aspiration is to get a restaurant!
VSK Food Joint, we wish you the best of luck.
